As summer comes in and spring fades away, closets across America are transitioning from wooly sweaters and boots to cotton t-shirts and comfy jean shorts. For some reason, it seems that bright, fun colors such as red or orange are traditionally worn in the spring, while neutral colors seem to be more of a winter fad.
I personally like to dress in opposite shades. A pop of color helps perk me up during the chilly months - we all know winter drags on with endless cruelty after the holidays. Since I don't have any bright jackets or boots, I'll throw in a bright purse or hat. Towards the end of May and the beginning of June I pack away my sweaters and scarves, PRAYING that I won't need to frantically need to dig them back out (this IS Ohio, after all....). I guess over the knee boots are considered fall/winter fashion, but I am keeping mine aout for all 4 seasons. Today I paired my black over the knee stiletto boots (Rue21) with mint jeans (Bongo) and a corresponding striped shirt. I only went to Wal-Mart but I felt fabulous. See, my mom and brother weren't home and I was spending the day sorting through my closet - not planning on leaving - wearing the goofiest pajamas imaginable. About 3 hours into the job, my Mom texts me and says to be ready to go to Wal-Mart. Oh, I guess I also stopped in to Maurice's to pick up a light sweater I ordered (on the blog next week). I have this pair of silly pink Crocs that I wear whenever I'm to lazy to a) wear real shoes or b) find my sandals. So I grabbed the nearest pair of shoes (over the knee boots), grabbed the mint outfit and voila! I was well on my way. I didn't get any great pictures today, but I managed to capture the general idea while I was waiting for my mom to get done at the gas station. I'll upload some more later. Love, Leslie ♡ While some think of ballerinas and others think of Halloween costumes, when it comes to tulle I think of vintage chic. After spending weeks drooling over pinterest posts of classy women pairing tulle skirts of all lengths with fabulous heels and flattering belts, I finally found a blue skirt at Rue21! After being so excited I found it interesting that when I told one of my friends about it, she had seen the same skirt the day before and skoffed about it. I'm assuming it was because she thought it was a bit costumey, but I wore it to my awards banquet for track and it was a hit, though these pictures don't do it much justice (I'll post more soon) and my hair is a mess - I was really really tired! The skirt also came in pink and black. My shirt and heels are from Maurice's. Love, Leslie ♡
After 13 long years of school, I'm finally done! It's a bit of a surrealistic experience. People keep asking me what it feels like to be graduated and I'm just like, "I don't know!". It just feels like any other summer at this point. I don't think I will snap into reality until freshman orientation at Ursuline College. Now I need to find a summer job and prepare for next year! My graduation was on Monday, May 24, 2015 at Triway High School. I had a small family gathering afterward but of course Shelby (neighbor/best friend) was there! Under my robes I wore a dress from American Eagle and Guess wedges. Love, Leslie ♡
As infatuated as I am with the famous Chanel brand, this 100% silk scarf is the only piece of couture I own. Sad, I know! It was a gift to me from my mother. I don't know where the fad started, but I'm really into Middle Eastern fashion right now; I love all of the headwear and drapery. I actually saw a woman dressed in robes today at Wal-Mart and I thought about taking her picture but I figured that would be a.) creepy and b.) disrespectful! My Chanel scarf is so silky that it was extremely difficult to pose for this picture without it slipping off of the back of my head. On Monday (Memorial Day) I used the same scarf to tie a turban over my hair, which I wore to my friend's graduation party. It's the first time I've ever done anything like that so I wasn't really sure how people would react, but I actually received an overwhelming amount of compliments on it. The tutorial I found for the turban was on YouTube, and the title was "HOW TO TIE A TURBAN ll TUTORIAL" by Codie Louise. The video is only around three minutes long. It's totally worth watching if anyone is brave enough to try it out. I felt a little self concious about wearing it out in public but I was really glad that I did. (who cares what other people think anyway, I didn't get any negative feedback). Love, Leslie ♡
Happy Saturday! Ok, so last year I found a pair of denim shorts with suspenders attached at (drumroll, please...) Wal-Mart in Ashland. I think I wore them maybe twice last summer because the hems were rolled up, they were unimaginably short, and I felt like my bum was on full display! They were in my giveaway pile until I saw a recent post of Kourtney Kardashian wearing denim overalls with a white t-shirt and a Chanel handbag. I guess that was her look to go on a "vintage hunt" with Lord Disick himself. So I dug out my little outfit to discover that while being packed away for the winter, the hems actually unrolled by themselves! I guess I'm giving them another try, but I still haven't found the perfect accessories or shoes (very important) to go with them. I've paired them with a DOL tshirt and black wedge sandals to go look for some bird with Nicky in Apple Creek. I kept trying to feed grass to cows but they rejected me! Love, Leslie ♡
Summer is beginning and college is nearing...along with college shopping trips! I'll be majoring in fashion merchandising at Ursuline College where (like all colleges) the bedrooms are small and the closets are even tinier! How am I going to fit all of my clothes in there?! I'm really going to have to pack and stuff things away while I'm there. My shoe collection is going to have a cramped new home! But besides all of that, I am so excited to start this new chapter in my life. I found a really cute Chanel rug from Golden Pearl home decor collection. If everything goes as planned, it is going to be my splurge of the summer so it can look fabulous in my dorm! Love, Leslie ♡
THROWBACK THURSDAY!!! Best friends! My neighbor and I are like sisters and we see eye to eye on almost everything - but our style is worlds apart! Here are two cute and comfortable summertime looks. And, of course, I'm wearing my favorite sun hat! So chic with boyfriend jeans and a maiden style shirt. -Love, Leslie ♡
